more tiny lichen. the storms this past few months knocked tons of old, established lichens down from the trees and such. the amount of living debris here is fairly epic.
Walking along in any patch of my woods there will be hundreds of bits of lichen that once lived up top, now thrown down to the ground. A lot of it will die there- but some of it I have gathered and put in my wardian cases, and sell as specimens…
I love lichen and liverworts and mold and moss. I know that the storm debris will all go back to the soil; but if I can salvage a few bundles of these guys for others to enjoy (terrariums, or just dried specimens) that’d be awesome too.
